I started drawing at a young age and was encouraged by my ability to create realistic representations of animals and ordinary objects. When I was 13, I discovered painting and a whole new world of expression began. I painted representational landscapes, still life, and the figure.
After years of career and family, I was able to return to art. I began painting representational art, remembering skills I had neglected for years. Practicing what I once knew opened the door to the exploration of my favorite art: Abstract Expressionism.
I begin with a mark, a color, or a shape and it builds from there. My work speaks of this path of discovery; it speaks of the unknown, of the pure pleasure of creating.
Painting in abstract requires guts, experimentation, and the willingness to fail. When I start to paint, I don’t know what is going to happen. Improvisation becomes a method of expression. I never really know where it will take me next but I am grateful to be along for the ride.
